
Worcester Sharks Receive John McCarthy on Loan from St. Louis (NHL)

Worcester, MA - The Worcester Sharks (@WorcesterSharks), proud American Hockey League affiliate of the San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) announced today that the club has acquired veteran forward John McCarthy via loan from the St. Louis Blues. As part of the transaction, the San Jose Sharks have reassigned Adam Burish from Worcester to Chicago (AHL).
John McCarthy recorded eight points (5-3-8) in 25 games for the Chicago Wolves this season. Prior to signing with St. Louis in July, the 28-year-old, native of Andover, MA spent his first five years as a professional in the San Jose organization.
McCarthy ranks 3rd all-time in games played in Worcester Sharks history (242gp) and 6th in goals scored (53). The former Sharks captain has also appeared in 86 games with the San Jose Sharks (3-3-6) and scored 20 goals with Worcester during the 2011-12 season. J-Mac will wear #17 for the Worcester Sharks.
The 32-year-old Burish has posted one goal and two assists in 20 games this season for San Jose and four goals with three assists in 18 games with Worcester. The Madison, Wis., native has contributed 27 goals and 33 assists in 378 NHL regular-season appearances, which includes 11 goals and 10 assists in three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks. Burish was a member of the 2010 Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.

On Saturday, the Sharks host the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins at 7pm. Doors open at 3:30pm for the 7th annual High School Hockey Clash between the Hudson Hawks and the Marlborough Panthers at 4pm.
On Sunday, the Shark travel to Manchester for a 3pm start vs the Monarchs to close out the four game week!
