Worcester Sharks News Release
Worcester, MA - Worcester Sharks President Michael A. Mudd announced today that the Worcester Sharks and the SMG-managed DCU Center will host a Blood Drive on Friday, August 19, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. inside the Convention Center lobby. The Worcester Sharks have hosted a Blood Drive annually at the DCU Center since the team's inaugural season in 2006. The Sharks are providing game tickets as incentive for donors, and the American Red Cross is kindly making arrangements to supply all staffing and equipment needs for this special community event.
The summer is the most difficult time of the year for blood collection since High Schools & Colleges provide 20% of the blood collected in Massachusetts. Despite people being on vacation, the blood needs of area hospital patients remains constant.
"The Sharks have a terrific partnership with the American Red Cross and we are excited to take part of this Blood Drive for the sixth straight year," stated Mudd. "We look forward to see each donor at a Worcester Sharks hockey game next season at the DCU Center."
Each presenting blood donor will receive a voucher for a free pair of tickets to a 2011-12 Worcester Sharks regular season home game at the DCU Center, a voucher for a free box of Chocolate Covered Strawberries from Edible Arrangements, and a sample of New England Coffee. Limited curbside parking outside the Convention Center on Major Taylor Boulevard will be available for donors. Donors should enter through Door #2 of the Convention Center.
To ensure an even donor flow and less time waiting, donors are encouraged to call the American Red Cross at (800) RED-CROSS, or visit www.redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment to donate life-saving blood. Appointments are preferred however walk-ins are always welcome.
There are only 72 days until the Worcester Sharks opening night (October 15) at the DCU Center and 2011-12 Flex ticket packages are on sale now! Score your 40 or 10 ticket flex package by contacting the Sharks front office at 508-929-0500. You decide how many tickets and how many games YOU want to attend while saving $$$ off box office pricing! It is that EASY!
