Worcester Sharks Announce 2012-13 Promotional Schedule

WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks President Michael A. Mudd announced the team's 2012-13 promotional schedule as the Sharks begin their seventh season of hockey at the DCU Center in Worcester. Ten giveaway nights including three bobbleheads, five high school hockey double headers, numerous returning fan favorite theme nights, and two celebrity appearances highlight an action packed promotional schedule!

Individual tickets and a special Buy-1, Get-1 Free offer (BOGO) will go on sale at 10am on Monday, September 24 and may be purchased via Ticketmaster by calling (800) 745-3000 and by going online at www.ticketmaster.com. Individual tickets are also available by visiting the DCU Center box office Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Sharks enter their seventh AHL season by hosting Fire and Ice - Opening Night on Saturday, October 20, against Albany at 7:00 p.m. with the first 3,000 fans receiving a free magnet schedule.

Three separate bobblehead nights are featured on the promotional schedule. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Matt Irwin bobblehead on December 8, a mystery bobblehead on January 19, and a Pan-Mass Challenge FINZ bobblehead on March 9.

In the first of two planned specialty jerseys nights, the Sharks will host their 2nd annual "Pink in the Rink" Night to benefit the Cup Crusaders and wear a special pink jersey and skate on pink ice on February 2. The Sharks will partner with the Autism Resource Center of Central Massachusetts and wear a specialty jersey on February 23.

A special celebrity appearance will occur on November 10 and March 23. Past celebrities have included Rob Gronkowski, Big Baby Glen Davis, and Shawn Thornton!

The Sharks will host five high school double headers this season as Hudson will battle Marlboro on January 13, Northbridge will skate against Worcester on January 16, Auburn will tangle with Wachusett on January 19, Shrewsbury will play Algonquin on January 26, and St. John's will face St. Peter Marian on February 2. In addition, the 3rd annual MSHCA High School All Star Classic will take place on March 30. One ticket will allow you admission to both the high school and Sharks game.

"The promotional schedule has something for everyone. We are excited for another family friendly and affordable season in Sharks Territory," said Mudd. "The Sharks look forward to continue to grow our fan base and we're delighted to bring great family entertainment and hockey to central Massachusetts."

The entire Sharks hockey team will sign autographs in a postgame autograph session on March 10 on Team Poster Night and the Sharks player autographed card series will return on November 3 (Jimmy Bonneau) and February 24 (Danny Groulx).

This season will mark the second edition of two movie poster giveaways presented by WTAG. Sharks players will "star" in movie posters to be given out on November 17 and March 30.

For the second consecutive season, the Sharks are rolling out $2-$2-$2 Fridays. During every Friday night game at the DCU Center, fans may purchase hot dogs, sodas, and popcorn for only $2 each.

Kid's tickets are just $5 for Sunday afternoon games with the purchase of one adult ticket as part of $5 Kid's Sundays. In addition, the Sharks have two giveaways planned for children 12-years old and younger! The first 500 kids will receive a Sharks hat on Dec 29 and a Sharks t-shirt on FINZ's birthday celebration on March 24 presented by Saint Vincent Hospital!

The family fun pack will include all weekend date games (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and includes four tickets, four hot dogs, and four sodas, for only $79.

The Teddy Bear Toss presented by Bay State Savings Bank returns for a fourth season on November 24. Fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals to throw on the ice in support of local charities.

Bring your dog on April 7 as the Sharks host their 2nd annual Pucks & Paws Night with a special appearance from Scratch.

The return of fan favorite Saturday Night Signings will include special appearances throughout the season by sports celebrities. Worcester Sharks players will sign autographs during the 2nd intermission during all Saturday home games.

As always, the Sharks will host a "Fan Appreciation Night" during the end of the regular season which includes the annual "Parade of Champions" and several promotions and giveaways on April 13 vs. the Norfolk Admirals.
