Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards announced today that forward Chad Woollard has agreed to terms for the 2006-07 season. The 26-year old forward will begin his eighth pro season this fall.
Woollard recorded the eighth highest goal total (44) in Mallards history during the 2005-06 season. He reached career highs in goals and points (76) while completing his first season in the Quad Cities. The Durham, Ontario native ranked fifth in the United Hockey League in goal scoring and finished second in the league in power-play goals (22). Woollard played in all 76 Mallards games last season, one of just nine players to accomplish the feat in Mallards franchise history.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound forward also led the Mallards in playoff goal scoring as he recorded eight tallies, including a Game Five hat trick, in a seven game series vs. Danbury. Woollard added four assists for 12 post-season points.
"It was a necessity for this organization to have Chad Woollard back in the line up for the upcoming season; we are ecstatic with his return," said Mallards President Tim Taylor. "He has an unbelievable shot and skill level. He makes the players around him better, and that's an invaluable asset. We can't wait to see what he will accomplish with our new team."
"Chad was one of our stars last year," said Mallards General Manager and Head Coach Brian Curran. "He's a huge asset to our club both on and off the ice. We look forward to having him back, and we expect even bigger and better things from him this year."
Before joining the Mallards, Woollard spent five seasons with the Central Hockey League's Fort Worth Brahmas. During his time in Fort Worth, Woollard established franchise records for games (290), goals (132), points (264), shots (1,029), game-winning goals (15) and shorthanded goals (5). He made three Central League All-Star Game appearances with the Brahmas.
During his first seven seasons of professional hockey, Woollard has appeared in 404 games while recording 355 points on 183 goals and 172 assists. He has appeared in two American Hockey League stints. During the 2001-02 season, he played a pair of games for Utah and recorded five penalty minutes. In 2003-04, Woollard played four games for the St. John's Maple Leafs. He recorded his first AHL point with a goal during his time with the Maple Leafs.
