Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA â Ottawa Renegades receiver Pat Woodcock was on hand to help raise nearly $100,000 for the Christmas Exchange program at a Christmas Cheer breakfast put on by CHUM Radio last weekend.
The Kanata native joined other local celebrities and broadcasters in raising $97,247 on December 4th at the CFRA studios in downtown Ottawa. At the event, Woodcock assisted other guests and radio personalities by reading donation pledges from listeners and sharing in light, and fun conversation.
"The Christmas season is such a special time of year and not everyone gets a chance to experience it the same way. To get the opportunity to lend a hand is really special," said Woodcock. "If there is any chance to get an opportunity to give others a truly enjoyable Christmas is a blessing."
Woodcock's activities continue on Friday when he will join other celebrity servers for the Christmas Cheer Breakfast at the Westin Hotel (7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.). The breakfast is one of the more popular networking activities within Ottawa's business community - it's consistently sold out (1,200 visitors) every year since 1991.
Funds raised from both the "Christmas Cheer Broadcast" and the "Christmas Cheer Breakfast" go to the Christmas Exchange for the preparation and delivery of Christmas food hampers for the less fortunate in the national capital area.
