Woodchucks use timely hitting and stellar pitching to blank Mallards, 6-0

Wausau, WIS - The Wisconsin Woodchucks capitalized on Madison Mallards' mistakes and Seth Davis turned in a great pitching performance to shutout the Mallards, 6-0.

The Woodchucks(1-4) struck first in the bottom half of the first inning with a key two-out hit from CJ Chatham up the middle that brought in Troy Traxler and Nate Mondou that gave the Woodchucks an early 2-0 lead.

The Woodchucks broke the game open when they plated four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The inning was extended when Mallards' (3-2) second baseman Robby Tenerowicz had a costly error that plated a runner but more importantly extended the inning. The Woodchucks made Tenerowicz pay as they plated three more runners in the inning to take a 6-0 lead.

The Woodchucks got a stellar pitching performance from Seth Davis as he pitched 7.0 innings surrendering just one hit while striking out nine Mallards' batters. Davis along with Woodchucks' reliever Zach Butler combined to strike out 14 batters.
