
Woodchucks Sign U of M Pitcher

(Wausau) - This week, the Woodchucks are excited to announce the addition of Ripon, WI native, Jordan Jess, to their 2012 roster. Jess, a 6-2 left-handed pitcher, is currently a freshman at the University of Minnesota. Jess has put up solid numbers in his freshman campaign thus far for the Gophers. He currently has 9 appearances, with a 3.57 ERA and 14 strikeouts, while holding opponents to a .186 average.
A standout at Ripon High School, Jess was named the 2011 Fox 11 Large School Player of the Year and the 2011 Class A State Legion Most Valuable Player. He helped lead the Tigers to a 20-3 overall record en route to a conference and Division 2 State Championship in 2011. His senior year he went 10-0 in 65 innings pitched and held a 1.14 ERA with 117 strikeouts, earning him a second team all-state honor as a pitcher.
