Woodchucks Announce New Ownership

(Wausau, WI) Wisconsin Woodchucks Owner Clark Eckhoff announced today that he has sold the team to Mark Macdonald. Mark Macdonald, who is a Wisconsin native and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse alumni, is excited to return back to Wisconsin and be a part of the Wausau and the Central Wisconsin community. "Mark Macdonald will be a great asset to the Woodchucks, and our community. He is very civic minded which is important for further success of the Woodchucks. Mark is a Wisconsin native returning home", said Eckhoff.

Mr. Eckhoff will remain on as Chairperson of Woodchucks advisory board and will remain a close and valued consultant to new owner Mark Macdonald & General Manager Ryan Treu going into the future. He will continue to play a critical role in the day to day operations of the Woodchucks, but will now have the flexibility to spend more time with his family. "I want to express my gratitude to our fans, our partners, the city, and everyone who made my 13 years of ownership of the Wisconsin Woodchuck such a success. I am extremely confident that the Woodchucks will continue to build their brand of excellence, and their great relationship with the Central Wisconsin Area while making Athletic Park an amazing place to watch baseball for years to come."

Mark's family has owned and operated the Riverview Inn restaurant and golf course in North Bend, Wisconsin for over 35 years. After graduating from UWL in 1981, Mark received his MBA in Finance from Portland State University in Oregon and enjoyed a 30-year investment career in Los Angeles, California with Farmers Insurance and the American Funds where he was also an owner. "I'm excited about the opportunity to combine my love of baseball with my experience in the hospitality industry," Macdonald said. "Wausau and the Central Wisconsin area is a special community that has all the right ingredients to make the Woodchucks one of the premier entertainment venues and summer wood bat franchises in the country. I'm truly excited about the future of this organization."
