
Woodchucks Announce 2017 Schedule

Wausau, WIS- The Northwoods League schedule for the 2017 season was released today. The Wisconsin Woodchucks will open the 2017 season in Green Bay, against the Bullfrogs on Tuesday, May 30. The Woodchucks will start their season at home the very next day, also against the Bullfrogs, on Wednesday, May 31 at 6:35 pm.
The Woodchucks have a 72 game schedule with 36 home games, spread out evenly throughout the summer. The longest stretch of home games will occur just after the Fourth of July when the Woodchucks play at home five days in a row, from Thursday, July 6 - Monday, July 10. Later in July, on Tuesday the 18th, the Wisconsin Woodchucks will host the 2017 Northwoods League All-Star Game, presented by Ascension. The two days of All-Star Game festivities will include a banquet, Fan Fest, Home Run Derby and the All-Star game itself. The full schedule can be found at Woodchucks.com
Fireworks Fridays will once again be returning to Athletic Park for the 2017 season; stay after every Friday game for a fantastic fireworks show! A fun and exciting promotional schedule for fans of all ages is being planned and will be released in the spring.
The League, which plays two halves to determine playoff participants, will end the first half of play on July 4 with the second half beginning the following day. The new playoff format will continue in 2017. Beginning on August 14 the first and second half divisional champions will have home field advantage on the first day of the one-game elimination divisional playoffs. Their opponents will be determined by the two divisional teams remaining with the best overall records. The winners of those games will play against each other the following day in another one-game elimination division championship. With no off-day in between, the North and South Division Champions will then meet in a best-of-three series for the Summer Collegiate World Series from August 16-18.
