Walla Walla Sweets News Release
WALLA WALLA - Utility specialist Dimick Wood and infielder/outfielder Patrick Caulfield will soon begin their second consecutive summer campaign with the Walla Walla Sweets, the West Coast League team announced Friday.
Wood pitched five innings for the Sweets in 2018 and struck out eight in three mound appearances. The Briar Cliff University prospect played in 26 games last spring at Walla Walla Community College. He hit .256 (21-for-82) with two home runs and 14 runs batted in.
Caulfield posted a .328 batting average (22-for-67) in 16 games for Walla Walla in 2018. He had four extra-base hits (three doubles, one triple) and three RBI for the Sweets.
The Santa Barbara City College star had a .310 batting average with a home run and 13 RBI through 11 games this season. He hit .303 with 14 runs driven across and 13 stolen bases for the Vaqueros last spring.
"My experience as a Walla Walla Sweet in 2018 helped me get to the next level of my career," Caulfield said. "Being a junior college guy, I was able to surround myself with Division I talent from great programs across the country and got to learn new things from them inside the locker room and on the field."
Caulfield said he is excited for what lies ahead this summer, "especially to play in front of the big (crowds) at Borleske Stadium - which (are) incredible to play in front of."
