NEW MONTH, NEW RESULT
The Wolves opened December by snapping a four-game losing streak and winning for just the second time in nine games on Saturday; Chicago, which posted a 3-6-1-1 mark in November, sits in third place in the Midwest Division with 21 points through 20 games this year (9-8-2-1).
WOLVES HEADLINES
--- DARREN ARCHIBALD: Has scored third-period goals in back-to-back games after being assigned to the Wolves on Nov. 26 ... Appeared in all three games with the Wolves last week, notching two goals and 10 shots ... Shared second on Kalamazoo with six goals and fifth with 13 points in 18 games this season before joining Chicago ... Also ranked second on the K-Wings with a +6 plus/minus rating
--- ANTON RODIN: Assisted on both Chicago goals Friday night and has posted 5 assists and 6 points in his last six tilts ... Shares third on Chicago with 7 assists and is tied for seventh on the team with 8 points in 16 tilts this season ... All 8 of his points have come in his last nine contests
--- JORDAN SCHROEDER: Tallied 2 goals and 3 points during a current three-game point streak ... Ranks first on Chicago with 7 markers and is tied for second on the squad with 12 points in 19 games this season ... Shared the team lead with 9 points (5G, 4A) in 11 games during the month of November
--- ZACK KASSIAN: Collected his AHL-leading fifth opening goal of the season on Nov. 28 ... Shares second on the Wolves with 6 goals and 12 points in 18 games this season ... His 6 helpers are tied for fifth on Chicago ... Amassed 3 assists and 5 points in his last five matchups
--- ANDREW EBBETT: Dished out an assist in four of his last five tilts ... Shares first on the Wolves with 8 helpers and fourth with 10 points in 18 games this season ... Ranks second on the team with a +7 plus/minus rating and has accrued a plus or even rating in 15 of his 18 games ... Registered 7 points (G, 6A) in 11 games during the month of November
WOLF TRACKS
--- Chicago surrendered one goal to Peoria on Saturday, which marked just the second time in its last 16 games it allowed two or fewer goals in a contest; the Wolves are a perfect 5-0-0-0 when they surrender two or fewer goals to their opposition.
--- Defenseman JEREMIE BLAIN earned his first AHL point when he dished out an assist on Saturday; the 20-year-old blueliner skated in three games with the Wolves last week after being recalled on Nov. 27, accruing an assist, six penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating.
--- Left wing BRETT STERLING shared the team lead with 9 points (5G, 4A) in nine games during the month of November; the 28-year-old forward shares second n Chicago with 6 goals and paces the team with 14 points and a +8 plus/minus rating in 16 contests this year.
--- The Wolves have been perfect on the penalty kill in three of their last four contests (11 of 13); the team, which has been shorthanded just 80 times this season, is tied for 29th in the AHL with a 77.5 efficiency rating on the penalty kill (62 of 80).
--- Chicago is one of just four AHL clubs that have yet to reach the double-digit plateau for power-play markers scored this season; the Wolves have converted eight of 81 power-play opportunities (9.9%) in 20 games this season.
THE FUTURE IS NOW
--- The Wolves host their seventh Future Journalists Media Day for high school students at the Triphahn Community Center and Ice Arena in Hoffman Estates during the team's practice at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Guest speakers for the event will include Chicago sports personality JILL CARLSON, the Chicago Tribune's Wolves beat writer PAUL LaTOUR, and ESPN 1000 radio host HARRY TEINOWITZ.
