Manchester Wolves News Release
The Manchester Wolves, New Hampshire's professional arenafootball2 team will be trying to make Verizon Wireless Arena history Friday night, by becoming the first tenant to ever surpass the first round of the playoffs in the building's five-year existence.
"I believe this is the perfect time for this to happen," said Wolves' General Manager Angelo Mazzella. "The team is hitting full stride and playing really well together."
Manchester (9-7), the #4 seed, will play host to their East Division rival Wilkes-Barre Scranton Pioneers (9-7), the #5 seed, at 7:30 pm on Brady Sullivan Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. The season series between the two teams went to the Wolves this year with a 2-1 game advantage in three contests. The career series between the two clubs is knotted up at 7-7.
The Wolves are showing how important this battle is to their fans as well, by offering their lowest ticket prices since their 2004 arrival into Manchester. All lower bowl tickets (including Dream and Club seats) will be just $20.00, while all upper bowl tickets will be $10.00. Tickets will go on sale today (Tuesday) to the public at 10:00 am at the Verizon Wireless Arena Box Office.
"We want our fans to be a part of something special," added Mazzella. "We want to see a packed house Friday night that'll help act as our ninth man, and help us to create history."
The Wolves are getting hot at that right time, as they are currently riding their biggest winning streak of the year, four games, into Friday night's contest thanks to the great play of rookie quarterback Steve Bellisari from Ohio State University. Bellisari, who is 4-0 as a starter, has thrown for 25 touchdowns on the season.
Friday night's match up will also mark the return of former University of New Hampshire Wildcat standout quarterback, Mike Granieri, who will start for the Pioneers. Granieri is currently 1-1 at the Verizon Wireless Arena this season against the Wolves.
