The Chicago Wolves have signed defenseman TRAVIS ROCHE.

Last year, Roche earned his first National Hockey League point with one assist in five games with the Minnesota Wild. The Grand Cache, Alberta, native also led the Houston Aeros with 30 assists and shared third on the club with 38 points in 60 games.

Roche helped lead Houston to the 2003 Calder Cup Championship with five assists and eight points in 23 playoff games. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound defenseman, who was named to the 2002-03 Canadian All-Star Team, accumulated regular-season career-highs with 14 goals, 34 assists and 48 points in 65 games. His 14 goals ranked fifth among American Hockey League defenseman, while his 48 points shared fifth among league blueliners.

Overall, the 26-year-old blueliner has played 10 games in parts of three seasons with Minnesota (2000-2002 and 2003-04), making his professional debut after finishing his college career at the University of North Dakota in 2000-01. Roche, who was named the AHL's Man of the Year for community service following the 2001-02 season, has also posted 35 goals, 85 assists and 120 points in 185 career American Hockey League contests with Houston (2001-2004).

Roche won the 2000 NCAA Championship with the University of North Dakota and was named to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association¹s All-Rookie Team after notching 22 assists and 28 points in 42 games. In 2000-01 ­ his final year at North Dakota ­ Roche recorded 38 assists and 49 points in 42 games for the runner-up Fighting Sioux to earn a spot on the the NCAA West First All-American Team and the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team.
