Close to 100 athletes have already pre-registered for the one-night event, which is officially called the "Mohegan Wolves Tee's Plus Tryout Camp."
Registration will begin promptly at 5:30 PM on the night of the camp. The tryout will run from 7:00 â 10:00 PM. To pre-register for the tryout, please contact Wolves Coach Mark Stoute by calling the football office at 860.298.8541. Walk-ups are also welcome, space permitting. A pre-registration fee of $50.00 will be charged and must be paid in CASH during registration. A fee of $60.00 will be charged for all walk-ups (space permitting). Proper photo ID such as a valid driver's license will be needed.
All participants will be required to sign a waiver and fill out a registration form before beginning any part of the workout. These forms will be available at the registration desk. Athletes must be 18 years and older by December 15, 2002.
Participants should be prepared to complete any drills that are done at a professional football combines or tryouts including but not limited to: Short Shuttle, 40-Yard Dash, Broad Jump, Bench Press, One-on-One Drills, etc. The tryout will be held indoors on a synthetic surface, so appropriate clothing and shoes should be worn. Participants should also bring their own mouthpiece.
Tee's Plus, as the official merchandiser of the Mohegan Wolves, will provide the athletes in attendance with a practice t-shirt for the tryout.
"The coaching staff and I are really excited by the response we've gotten," Stoute said. "There are a lot of good football players around the tri-state area and we think we'll be looking at a number of them this Saturday night." The Connecticut Sportsplex is the official practice facility of the Wolves. In that capacity, the Sportsplex will house all the Wolves practice sessions leading up to and during the 2003 season. The site will also be the home base for the Wolves coaching staff.
"The Connecticut Sportsplex is a fantastic facility," Stoute said. "I'm really excited and feel very grateful about the partnership. The site is going to be a real recruiting tool for us to attract players. Not only do we have a first-class arena to play in, but we now have a first-class practice facility."
The Connecticut Sportsplex is the largest sporting facility in New England. It is housed on a fifty-acre facility with five outdoor baseball/softball fields, a golf driving range, and a seventy-five thousand square foot artificial turf facility.
