Wolves to be Part of Something Special

NEW LONDON, Conn. (May 16, 2003) – The Mohegan Wolves (arenafootball2) will be on hand at Waterford High School tomorrow (Saturday, May 17) to show their support for a host of extraordinary athletes at the Connecticut Special Olympics Eastern Regional Games. Over 650 athletes from the greater New London area will be competing in the games.

The event will run from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Special Olympics athletes in these games will be competing in the areas of athletics (track and field), aquatics, tennis and soccer.

A number of Wolves players, dance team members and front office staff will be among the cast of over 500 volunteers in attendance, including coaches, who will be lending their time and energy to make the day a special one for all involved. A countless amount of spectators are sure to be on hand as well.

The Wolves contingent will be helping run the awards ceremony in the afternoon. The players and dance team members will also be available for autographs and photo opportunities throughout the day.

Special Olympics Connecticut was established in 1969 and has grown into one of the most innovative and dynamic chapters in the world. SOCT offers valuable programs both on and off the playing field and strives to provide continuing opportunities for over 7,300 athletes throughout the state.
