Wolves Sign Sam Povorozniouk

June 21, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves announced Tuesday that Northbrook native Sam Povorozniouk ("Po-vo-ROZZ-nuke") has signed a professional try-out contract (PTO). The 21-year-old right wing will join the team when training camp opens in October.

"We like to give local players a chance and he's a proven goal-scorer," said Wolves general manager Wendell Young. "We're going to give him an opportunity to show that he can do it at the next level."

Povorozniouk spent the 2015-16 season with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). In his fifth and final season of major junior hockey, Povorozniouk ranked third in team scoring, compiling 62 points. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward led the Sea Dogs with 39 goals - doubling his previous career high - and paced the team in postseason scoring with 25 points (14G, 11A) in 17 games.

Povorozniouk, who attended Glenbrook North High School as a freshman and played for the USHL's Chicago Steel in 2010-11, becomes the third player signed by the Wolves this offseason. He joins forwards Emerson Clark and Bryce Gervais.

The Wolves have six guaranteed home dates for the upcoming season, which includes the 23rd home opener on Saturday, Oct. 15, at Allstate Arena. To learn more about the Wolves' season-ticket packages and group outings, visit ChicagoWolves.com or call 1-800-THE-WOLVES.
