Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves recognize that as many as 15 million Americans suffer from food allergies, including one of every 13 children under the age of 18. With that in mind, the Wolves are teaming up with Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) to provide Peanut Free Day, presented by Enjoy Life Foods, on Sunday, March 24, at Allstate Arena.

Well before the puck is dropped for the 3 p.m. game against the Milwaukee Admirals on March 24, Allstate Arena's Section 101 will be power-washed and cleaned to ensure fans with nut allergies can enjoy a game at ease. In addition, the arena's concession stands will not serve any peanut-related food items.

Veteran center Andrew Ebbett serves as the Wolves spokesman for Peanut Free Day. Though Ebbett has outgrown several of his childhood allergies --- one of which caused a significant middle-of-the-night reaction when he was 13 years old while on the road for a hockey tournament --- he continues to avoid shellfish and all nuts. He encourages fellow allergy sufferers to be proactive about the food they consume, especially when dining out.

"If there's something that you're not sure about, just double-check," Ebbett said. "Ask the waiter. Ask the waitress. It's a lot easier that way and saves you in the long run."

A portion of the proceeds generated from Peanut Free Day will go to FARE. For ticket information, call 1-800-THE-WOLVES or visit ChicagoWolves.com.
