January 28, 2017 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hartford Wolf Pack News Release
HARTFORD-Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack has recalled defenseman Spiro Goulakos from its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
Goulakos, a 6-2, 185-pound second-year pro, is tied for the ECHL lead in goals among defensemen, with 11, and also has 14 assists for 25 points, plus a team-leading 53 penalty minutes, in 31 games with the Swamp Rabbits. The 26-year-old Montreal native stands second among team defensemen in points, is tied for third overall on the squad in goals and is fourth in points.
Goulakos, who signed an AHL contract with the Wolf Pack August 22, 2016, split his rookie season between the Rochester Americans of the AHL and the ECHL's Elmira Jackals . In ten games with the Americans, he had one goal and one assist for two points, along with four penalty minutes, and in 57 games with Elmira, he chalked up seven goals and 24 assists for 31 points, plus 103 PIM. Those totals were good for tops among Jackal defensemen, and fourth overall on the team, in assists and second among team blueliners in points. Also, Goulakos' +12 rating was the best among team defensemen and ranked third overall on the squad.
Prior to turning pro, Goulakos played four seasons at Colgate University (ECAC), amassing career totals of 22 goals and 49 assists for 71 points, plus 176 PIM.
