HARTFORD, July 9, 2008: Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Wolf Pack have exercised their option on the American Hockey League contract of forward Jordan Owens for the 2008-09 season.

Owens, a 22-year-old native of Toronto, split his first pro season between the Wolf Pack and the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers in 2007-08. In 41 games with the Pack, the 6-0, 180-pounder notched seven goals and seven assists for 14 points and added 44 penalty minutes. He logged 20 games in a Checker uniform, contributing three goals and 10 helpouts for 13 points, to go along with 28 PIM. Owens also represented the Checkers in the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition, tallying a goal and five shots for the American Conference Squad in the All-Star Game and registering the second-fastest time (14.44 seconds) in the Fastest Skater event in the Skills Competition.

Owens began his professional career at the end of the 2006-07 campaign, joining the Wolf Pack for two regular-season games and six playoff contests after finishing his Ontario Hockey League career with the Mississauga IceDogs. In 192 total OHL games over three seasons with the IceDogs, Owens struck for 69 goals and 84 assists for 153 points, and registered 143 penalty minutes.
