WNY Lacrosse Rivalry Will be Showcased on National TV

The Rochester Knighthawks travel to play the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, April 21st at 7:30 p.m. The contest will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network. The game is available on Time Warner Cable Channel 232 and in HD on 1027. The game will be broadcast on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.

Head-to-Head: The teams have split the season series. Rochester won the last meeting, earning a 13-10 victory on March 10th. Buffalo won the first game, 12-9, on January 21st by rallying for seven of the game's final eight goals. In the two games, the NLL's all-time leading scorer, John Tavares, has led Buffalo with 11 points (6+5). Cody Jamieson has countered for Rochester with 11 points, as well. The game is the 53rd installment in the thruway series with the K-Hawks leading the Bandits with a record of 31-21.

Scouting the Knighthawks: The Knighthawks (6-8) enter the week in third place in the East Division after defeating the Calgary Roughnecks 14-12 Saturday night. Rochester clinched a postseason berth with the win. Johnny Powless recorded his second straight seven-point effort, while Stephen Keogh collected his second straight six-point night. Powless tied his career highs with three goals, four assists and seven points. Keogh also equaled career bests in goals (three) and points. Matt Vinc made 41 saves in the home win. He now ranks second in the NLL with 524 stops. Cody Jamieson notched one goal and four assists to give him 27 points (13+14) in his last five games. He ranks fifth in the NLL with 77 points and is tied for third with 35 goals. Joe Walters was activated before the game and responded with three assists. The Knighthawks are 3-1 with the hometown boy in the lineup.

The Kid can Play: 19-year-old forward Johnny Powless has heated up the last three games. He has seven goals and 10 assists over that stretch, including back-to-back seven-point games.

Jamieson shooting for 40: Cody Jamieson is five goals shy of becoming the first Knighthawk since John Grant Jr. in 2008 to reach the 40-goal plateau in a season. Grant had 47 that season.

'No Mercy' from Mike Accursi: The Knighthawks veteran reached the 200-assist plateau on Saturday on the strength of a two goal, four-assist effort. Accursi needs two goals to pass Cory Bomberry for eighth on the team's all-time assist list (120).

We've got the Power: Rochester has scored six power-play goals in the past two games, converting on 67 percent of its chances (6 for 9).

Scouting the Bandits: Buffalo (5-9) dropped its last game 11-8 to the Edmonton Rush on Saturday. The Bandits are in fourth place in the East Division and are still searching for a playoff spot. John Tavares (2+2) and Luke Wiles (3+0) led the Bandits' offense against the Rush. The Bandits have dropped three of their last four games. Tavares has a team-high 38 goals and 73 points. The 43-year-old Tavares is the NLL's all-time leader in goals (762), assists (858) and points (1,620).

Next Game: Rochester hosts the Philadelphia Wings on Saturday, April 28th at 7:30 p.m. The first 5,000 fans will take home a Knighthawks baseball hat. The K-Hawks will hand out their team awards that night prior to the game. The game will be broadcast on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.
