
Powless Named Rookie of the Week...Again

Rochester Knighthawks forward Johnny Powless was named the National Lacrosse League's Rookie of the Week after a seven-point effort against Calgary last Saturday. The 19 year old has won back-to-back awards and three Rookie of the Week honors this season.
Powless notched his fourth career hat trick and tied career highs in goals, assists and points in a 14-12 win over the Calgary Roughnecks. In the past three games, he has seven goals and 10 assists. He ranks third on the team with 24 goals and is tied for fourth with 45 points. Powless was the Rochester Knighthawks' first-round selection (fifth overall) in the 2011 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft.
Over the past two seasons in Junior "A" lacrosse, Powless has amassed 111 goals and 69 assists for 180 points in just 43 games. In 2011, he won the Gaylord Powless Award as the Junior "A" Most Sportsmanlike Player and was named a Second Team All-Star. He finished first in Junior "A" scoring with 65 goals and fourth with 102 points.
The Knighthawks travel to play the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, April 21st at 7:30 p.m. The contest will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network.
