Great Lakes Storm News Release
Birch Run, MI (February 13, 2005) â The Great Lakes Storm lost today against the Dakota Wizards 106-96 (6.0, 1.0) to move to 22-15 on the season. The Storm failed to send a message as the top two teams in the CBA battled for the second time this week, with the Wizards winning both contests. Dakota won four-of-five on the road trip to improve to 24-12.
With Chris Porter not in uniform for Dakota, the Storm appeared to have the edge after an emotional win on Friday night. Unfortunately they came out flat and Dakota led most of the first quarter while winning the quarter 27-22 behind eight points from Shawn Daniels. Dakota maintained the lead in the second quarter and went into halftime leading 57-49, also winning the quarter 30-27. Dakota continued to build to their lead and led by as many as 21 points late in the third quarter. They won the quarter 26-17 behind eight points from Maurice Baker. The Wizards pushed the lead to 25 points as they led 93-68 with nine minutes remaining in the game. The Storm would not go out without a fight though as they chipped away at the large deficit. The Storm went on an amazing 21-1 run in five minutes as they trailed 94-89 with just over four minutes to play. Their comeback would fall short as the Wizards made key buckets to clinch the big road victory.
The Storm's next game is on Monday, February 14th at home against the Idaho Stampede. Tip-off is set for 7:05 at the Birch Run Expo Center.
Game Highlights:
STORM: Jermaine Jackson 20 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds
