Sporting Kansas City News Release
Kansas City Wizards General Manager Curt Johnson has announced a one-year partnership between the Wizards and the Kansas State Youth Soccer Association (KSYSA) for the 2002 season. As part of the partnership, KSYSA becomes an official sponsor of the Wizards Summer Camps. Other aspects of the partnership include the Wizards providing a number of team and goalkeeper coaching camps throughout the summer staffed by Wizards players and coaches. In addition, KSYSA will have use of the Arrowhead Indoor/Outdoor Practice Facility for training and coaching clinics. In return, KSYSA will purchase Season Ticket packages that allow over 1200 youth soccer players participating in the KSYSA to attend a Wizards game during the 2002 season.
" The Kansas City Wizards have had a great relationship with the Kansas State Youth Soccer Association, since our inception in 1996," said Wizards General Manager Curt Johnson. "Each organization benefits when we are able to do things which are positive for the sport of soccer in our community. This partnership is another example of what can be accomplished when youth soccer and professional soccer work together. We are thrilled with the way our relationship with KSYSA has evolved over the years. Stan Overocker (President of KSYSA) is a huge supporter of the sport and their entire board has been a pleasure to work with."
