OTTAWA â Ottawa Renegades receiver Pat Woodcock, who was the co-chair of the Cisco Systems 2005 Bowl for Kids' Sake, helped raise over $60,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa.
Woodcock helped with the bowling event on February 26th and February 27th, as well as March 5th and 6th at Walkley Bowling Lanes. The Ottawa Renegades Football Club also contributed with autographed items, which helped raise funds for the cause.
"As we celebrate 35 years of mentoring in 2005, the funds raised for this event will assist us in matching children on our waiting list," said Sue Wilson, Director of Fund Development for Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa. "Our mentoring programs help more children stay in school and avoid drug an alcohol use. Our tradition match program provides children with the life skills and confidence they need to make positive life choices."
As part of his "Suite 16" program, Woodcock has, in the past, also donated tickets to Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa, inviting the group to a Renegades home game on his behalf.
