Wirll Gets Called up by the Rangers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Barracudas Head Coach Ron Duguay today announced that forward Mike Wirll has been called up by the New York Rangers and assigned to Charlotte of the ECHL.

Wirll, a Regina, Saskatchuwan native, has 14 points (10g-4a) in 16 games with the Barracudas this season. He leads the team with shots on goal (82), leads the team in power play goals (3) and is tied for second on the team in game winning goals (2).

"Mike is ready to step up to the next level," Duguay said. "He's played very well for us and we wish him the best."

Wirll will be in Charlotte this Wednesday when the Checkers host the Florida Everblades. The call up will be for a minimum of seven days as Charlotte is struggling with injuries.

"We're excited for Mike and we wish him the best but for our team and our fans sake, we hope he's back soon," Duguay said with a smile.

The Barracudas also announced that center Kory Baker has been place on the 7-day Injured Reserve and that Greg Capson has been re-signed.

The Barracudas (15-5-1, 31 points) host the Macon Trax tomorrow night at the Veteran's Memorial Arena. Face-off time is 7:05. There will be a Pre-Game Cocktail Party at the Amsterdam Sky Café from 5:30-7pm. Come early and enjoy $1.00 drafts and wine. Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton will drop the puck for the Ceremonial Opening Face-Off.
