ZEBULON, NC (JULY 16, 2012) - The Dash extended their winning streak to four games with their 10th last at-bat victory, 8-7 over the Carolina Mudcats in the first of four at Five County Stadium Monday.

Winston-Salem (11-11, 55-36-1) spoiled a pair of large leads but never trailed. With the score tied in the ninth, Dan Black led off with a double that hit off third base and kicked down the left field line. Cyle Hankerd followed with a two-bagger of his own to push across the game-winning run.

Taylor Thompson retired the Mudcats (13-11, 45-49) in order in the bottom half of the ninth to preserve the victory for Bryan Blough (1-0), who earned his first career High-A win.

The Dash jumped out to a four-run lead in the first inning. Hankerd earned a painful RBI after getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the game's first run. Michael Earley followed suit with a two-run double to right-center before Miguel Gonzalez wrapped up the first inning scoring with a sacrifice fly to center.

Carolina countered with a four-run frame of their own in the second inning, capped off by a two-run double off the bat of Dwight Childs. This scoring inning snapped the Dash's 21-inning scoreless streak, which stretched back to the eighth inning of Thursday's win at Myrtle Beach.

However, Winston-Salem starter Jake Petricka settled down after that rough inning. Petricka worked six innings and allowed only those four runs on five hits. He whiffed six and retired 10 of the final 11 he faced.

With the game tied in the fourth, Black and Hankerd strung together back-to-back RBI doubles to push Winston on top 6-4. One inning later, David Herbek led off with a solo shot down the left field line for his first career High-A homer.

The Mudcats plated a pair of runs in the seventh inning before tying the game with an unearned tally in the bottom of the eighth, but they had to settle for their eighth one-run loss in the second half. These two squads are now tied for second place, two games back of Myrtle Beach in the Southern Division.

Winston-Salem continues this four-game series in Zebulon Tuesday night at 7:15. Southpaw Blair Walters (1-3, 8.69 ERA) toes the rubber for the Dash against righty Michael Goodnight (2-8, 4.36 ERA). Pre-game coverage begins at 7:00 on wsdash.com.

The Dash kick off a seven-game homestand at BB&T Ballpark Friday at 7:00 p.m. against the Frederick Keys. For more information or to purchase your tickets, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
