Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - Winnipeg Blue Bombers wide receiver Adarius Bowman has won the Gibson's Finest Offensive Player of the Week for week 15 of the CFL season, while his teammate, cornerback Jovon Johnson, was awarded the Special Teams Player of the Week, for the second week in a row.
Adarius Bowman had one of the most impressive outings for a receiver this season in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats this weekend.
Bowman caught 10 passes for a total of 213 yards and two touchdowns in the Bombers' big win over their East division rival. In the first half alone, where the Bombers' stretched their lead to 21-0, Bowman collected 180 yards and two touchdowns on just seven receptions.
This is the first time a receiver has reached the 200-yard mark in a single game dating back to 2007 when Derick Armstrong compiled 205 yards for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Jovon Johnson continued his stellar play this week which has helped the Winnipeg Blue Bombers win three games in a row. This weekend against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Johnson returned three kickoffs for a total of 115 yards, an impressive 38.3 yard average.
He also had eight punt returns for 69 yards (8.6 avg), helping give the Bombers' offence excellent field position to work from. Johnson also had one special teams tackle and one pass knockdown in the victory.
This is the second consecutive week that Johnson has won the Gibson's Finest CFL Special Teams Player of the Week award.
