Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB. - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Bell MTS have partnered to make youth football more accessible for families who may require financial assistance. Funded by Bell MTS, this grant provides up to 100 youth in Manitoba between the ages of 8-16 years old with financial support to cover the registration fees associated with playing football.
"We are thrilled to again partner with Bell MTS to make youth football more accessible," said Wade Miller, President & CEO of the Winnipeg Football Club. "Football is an important part of our community, and we want to ensure that all youth have the opportunity to participate. There is a spot on the football field for everyone."
In 2022, the Youth Football Program presented by Bell MTS allowed up to 100 Manitoba youth to participate in football who otherwise wouldn't have had the opportunity due to financial barriers. This support extended across all teams in the Manitoba Minor Football Association as well as fully funded the Transcona Nationals and Winnipeg Nomads programs.
"One of the pillars of our Bell for Better initiative is working together with partners like the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to build better communities," said Paul Norris, Vice Chair of Bell MTS and Western Canada. "The benefits of organized sports like football go far beyond physical activity, creating a safe space for youth to learn teamwork, self-confidence, and leadership skills. We are proud to support this initiative for another year to help more young people in Manitoba experience the positive impact of participating in community sports."
Families interested in applying for financial assistance should complete the online application form, which should be completed by a parent/guardian or caregiver. The applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and the program will be available until funds are exhausted.
