
Wings To Conduct Six-Week Learn To Play Lacrosse Clinics At Sovereign Bank Flyer Skate Zone At Voorh

The Philadelphia Wings professional indoor lacrosse team is partnering with the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm Comcast-Spectacor to offer a new Learn To Play Lacrosse program at Sovereign Bank Flyers Skate Zone at Voorhees (601 Laurel Oak Road), which the company owns, beginning on Sunday, February 22 from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. The six-week instructional program will conclude on Sunday, March 28.
Wings player Keevin Galbraith and others will work closely with the students in lacrosse "basics," including shooting, passing, stick-handling and positioning. Other Wings players will appear throughout the six-week session. Registration is $90 and includes a free ticket to an upcoming Wings game at Wachovia Center during the 2004 season.
"In our on-going effort to grow the game of lacrosse, we are excited to partner with Comcast-Spectacor and bring this new Learn to Play Lacrosse program to Voorhees," said Marty O'Neill, Wings General Manager. "For someone wishing to learn our game, what better way than to learn from the best."
In addition to offering instructional clinics, Sovereign Bank Flyers Skate Zone's indoor lacrosse program will feature youth and adult tournaments starting in March, as well as a brand new indoor lacrosse league coming in the fall of 2004. Sovereign Bank Flyers Skate Zone at Voorhees offers the community unique skating opportunities including interactive public skating sessions with a DJ, light shows, ticket and prize giveaways, and a free Philadelphia Phantoms game ticket with any paid public skating admission. In addition, community members can participate in Flyers Youth Hockey Leagues, Learn to Skate and Learn to Play programs with professional instructors, adult and youth hockey leagues, tournaments, and Flyers and Phantoms player appearances. Schools and community groups are welcome to rent out the rink for fundraisers and meetings.
The Wings are owned and operated by Philadelphia Wings, L.P. whose principal owners are Russ Cline, Chris Fritz, and Michael French. Comcast-Spectacor serves as the marketing, promotional, advertising, and publicity arm of the Wings. The Wings play at the Wachovia Center, which is owned and operated by Comcast-Spectacor.
