Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Quota Club will Bring 150 Hearing Impaired Youths to Meet K-Wings This Friday
Kalamazoo, MI- Wings Stadium, which is also home to "The Annex" and "The Cube", announces that the Quota Club will bring 150 hearing impaired youths to meet the Kalamazoo Wings this Friday, January 3rd.
Quota of Kalamazoo was chartered in Kalamazoo in 1945 with 25 women who felt the need to serve their community. The club is affiliated with a world wide organization located in 13 countries around the world. For 53 years Quota of Kalamazoo has worked to improve the lives and welfare of the deaf and hard of hearing and women and children in crises of this community. One way the Quota Club has improved the lives of hearing impaired youths is the creation of the Stepping Out program.
The Stepping Out program was originated three years ago to bring the students of the surrounding counties together for a day of learning and fellowship. This event provided the means for the young deaf and hard of hearing youth to meet their peers. January 3, 2003, the management of Wings Stadium is hosting a holiday skating event, which will provide an atmosphere of fellowship for the students and their families. The K-Wings Hockey Club is donating their time to skate with the students and encourage them in their endeavors and dreams.
The K-Wings will practice at 10 am in The Annex; following the practice K-Wings players will sign autographs and skate with the students.
Stadium Management Company owns both the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team and the Wings Stadium Complex, which is comprised of three main buildings. Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is a smaller facility that plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
