Wings' Rookies Receive National Lacrosse League Weekly Honors

The Philadelphia Wings' Geoff Snider was named the NLL's Transition Player Of The Week while Athan Iannucci was named Rookie Of the Week for their performances in a pair of Wings victories this past weekend. Both players were drafted by Philadelphia in the first round of the 2006 NLL Entry Draft. The Wings, who are on a three-game winning streak, defeated the New York Titans on Friday night by a score of 16-11 at Nassau County Coliseum followed by a 10-9 win over the Toronto Rock at the Wachovia Center on Saturday night.

"Both Snider and Iannucci have been impact players for us in their rookie seasons," said Wings Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson. "They showed great maturity this weekend in a couple of hard-fought wins over New York and Toronto."

Snider, recorded an assist, collected 13 loose balls, and won 19 of 30 face-off attempts in the Wings' victory over New York. On Saturday, he scored three points (2G, 1A) and collected six loose balls against Toronto and scored both the game tying and game winning goals.

Iannucci scored 13 points (8G, 5A) combined in the Wings' weekend contests. In addition to scoring eight points (5G, 3A) against New York, the rookie forward collected six loose balls and scored one power play goal. The following night against Toronto, Iannucci scored five points (3G, 2A), including a power play goal, and collected nine loose balls.
