The Wings open the home portion of their 2004 campaign at the Wachovia Center on Saturday, January 17 against Rochester.
The Wings will play all three new NLL teams, beginning with San Jose in their first-ever trip to the HP Pavilion on Friday, January 23. Arizona (Phoenix) and Anaheim will visit the Wachovia Center to face the Wings on Saturday, February 14, and Saturday, March 20, respectively.
The Wings eight-game home schedule includes games against Rochester on Saturday, January 17; the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, January 31; the new Arizona franchise on Saturday, February 14; Buffalo on Saturday, February 21; the Toronto Rock on Saturday, February 28 and Saturday, March 13; the new Anaheim franchise on Saturday, March 20; and Rochester on Saturday, March 27. All games begin at 8 p.m., but the party begins two hours prior when doors open for the Broad Street Bash indoor block party at 6 p.m.
"It's exciting to be playing three new teams, but the rivalries against Buffalo, Rochester, and Toronto will be as hot as ever," said Wings Owner and President Russ Cline. "These great traditional match-ups combined with games against our newest NLL teams will make for an exciting season."
Highlighting the Wings 18th franchise season is the return of the Wings third all-time scoring leader Jake Bergey, who missed last season with a torn ACL. Dallas Eliuk , the most decorated goaltender in professional lacrosse history, will return for his 14th season between the pipes.
The Wings will play in the Eastern Conference, which features Buffalo, Rochester, and Toronto. The Western Conference, features the three new teams in addition to the existing Calgary Roughnecks, Colorado Mammoth, and Vancouver Ravens in the Western Conference. The Wings will see each Conference opponent four times this season with two games against each at the Wachovia Center and two games at each on the road.
