Wings Face NLL's Top Team this Saturday

The Wings host the league-leading Buffalo Bandits at this First Union Center this Saturday, March 15 at 8 p.m. The Bandits (9-1) are on a six game winning streak and are coming off a 12-10 win over the Rochester Knighthawks last Friday. Buffalo boasts the lowest goals against in the league with only 109 shots scoring on goaltenders Steve Dietrich and Cory Quinn. Packages to see the Wings battle the Bandits and the Calgary Roughneck in the final regular season game on March 22 start as low as $30 and can be purchased by calling 215-389-WINGS (9464).

RECAPPING THE WINGS

The Wings (6-5) defeated the New York Saints twice in week eleven of NLL action. Keith Cromwell netted the overtime goal to secure an 18-17 win for the Wings last Thursday at the Nassau County Coliseum. The Wings returned to the First Union Center on Saturday, where Jeff Ratcliffe led the Wings with his eight-goal performance to a 15-14 win over the Saints.

Leading scorers for the week were Jeff Ratcliffe with 17 points (10G, 7A), Tom Marechek with 13 points (6G, 7A), Tony Henderson with eleven points (5G, 6A), and Keith Cromwell with ten points (5G, 5A).

The Wings hold first place in the NLL's Eastern Division one-half game ahead of the Colorado Mammoth (6-5).

PLAYOFF PICTURE

Six teams will advance to the NLL's post-season play in 2003. The top seeds in the NLL's Eastern, Central, and Northern division will all automatically clinch playoff berths and will be seeded based on record. The next three seeds are determined by the next best overall records. The top two seeded teams receive a bye in the quarterfinals.

BROAD STREET BASH

This week's Broad Street Bash features live music from the band Huzzavox, a mechanical bull, and more. Doors for the Broad Street Bash open at 6 p.m. at the Broad Street Microbrewery.

WINGS WORLD

* Leading scorers for the Wings through six games are Tom Marechek with 60 points (29G, 31A), Jeff Ratcliffe with 43 points (24G, 19A), Tony Henderson with 35 points (22G, 14A), and Keith Cromwell with 35 points (15G, 20A).

* Forward Tom Marechek leads the team in goal scoring (29).

* Forward Tom Ryan has been out of the Wings lineup since February 22 with complications from a concussion suffered on February 8 in the game against the Rochester Knighthawks.

* Sixth-year forward Jake Bergey will miss the 2003 season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee in an exhibition game against Colorado at the Pepsi Center on December 6. Bergey underwent surgery last month and will continue rehab throughout the season.

WINGS APPEARANCES

* Jeff Ratcliffe can be heard on WNJC on Tuesday, March 11 at 5:30 p.m.

* Goaltender Nick Schroeder and defenseman Andrew Martin will be appearing at Hooter's in Bensalem Monday, March 10 from 7-9 p.m.

* Defensemen Drew Candy and Andrew Martin will be at the Gallery II Center Court at Market East on Wednesday, March 12 from noon-2 p.m. Fans will be able to purchase $10 mezzanine level tickets for each of the remaining two Wings home games during the event.
