Vancouver Ravens News Release
The core of any successful franchise in professional sports is its loyal fans and that's as true with the Vancouver Ravens Lacrosse Club as it is anywhere. We believe the heart and soul of our fan base are people like you who are part of the Ravens Family as Season Ticket Team Members.
Your support has been a key ingredient since the inception of the Ravens franchise in the National Lacrosse League (first launched April 9, 2001). You and our inaugural Season Ticket Team Members provided the base upon which we drew an average of 10,211 fans at General Motors Place in our first season. In fact, all of our successes in Year 1, from our 10-6 expansion record and a playoff berth to our dynamic game presentation and national television ratings, were attributed in large part to the engagement and enthusiasm of our Season Ticket Team Members.
We understand that building on the successes of Year 1 will require strong teamwork and your involvement and we're here to work hard to earn that support for the long term growth and development of the Vancouver Ravens, both on the floor and in the community.
Our immediate objectives - beginning with the most recent home game February 28th, an 18-16 win over the New York Saints and featuring this weekend's big game against Gary Gait and the Colorado Mammoth, Sunday, March 16th, at 1 p.m. at General Motors Place -- include giving you a lot more to cheer about game in, game out. The energy we create together for our remaining games against Colorado, the 2002 NLL finalist Albany Attack and the regular season finale against the Ottawa Rebel will go a long way to not only giving our playoff chances a boost, but will help us set the stage for next season and beyond.
We're working hard to create the energy with you this Sunday with "3G Family Day" when we host the Colorado Mammoth at 1 p.m. "3G Family Day" includes our GaryMania tribute to Gary Gait, wherein everyone named Gary will receive free admission, "Go Green" wherein fans wearing green or painting their faces green in celebration of St. Patrick's Day will be eligible for great prizes and "Give", wherein we're counting on our loyal fans to support the Vancouver Food Bank's spring drive. All fans bringing canned or dried food products will receive two upper-bowl tickets to the March 21st game against the Albany Attack.
Our game Friday, March 21st, against the Attack is being billed as "Spirit of the Games". That night, we'll pay tribute to the province's top Olympic and Paralympic athletes and celebrate the local community's work in support of the 2010 Olympic bid. Our regular season finale Friday, March 28th against the Rebel is Fan Night and is, of course, reserved as a tribute to you and our loyal fans.
We're committed to finishing the 2002-2003 National Lacrosse League season on a strong note but we know that we need your involvement and support as Season Ticket Team Members in order to do so. Thanks again for everything you've done to support the first season of the Ravens and our efforts to build on that in the remainder of the 2002-2003 campaign.
We appreciate you being part of the Ravens Family.
