Wings Announce Protected List For Expansion Draft

The Philadelphia Wings announced their protected list for the 2007 National Lacrosse League Expansion Draft. The date of the draft, which will supply the new Boston franchise with their initial roster, will take place on Tuesday, July 31st at 2 p.m. Eastern.

The Wings' protected list includes goaltender Matt Roik; forwards Keith Cromwell, Jason Crosbie, Kyle Fiat, Athan Iannucci, Dan Marohl, , Rob Van Beek, and Kyle Wailes; transition players John Christmas, Geoff Snider, and Kyle Sweeney and defensemen Thomas Hajek, Shawn Nadelen, and Taylor Wray.

Each returning club can protect up to fourteen players on its roster from the Expansion Draft. Clubs may either protect one goaltender and thirteen of its runners (forwards/defensemen/transition players) or two goaltenders and ten runners. No team may lose more than one of its players in the Expansion Draft. Draft results will be posted live at the league's official website, nll.com.

The new Boston franchise will select one player from each of the thirteen other NLL franchises. Boston will also have the number one selection in the 2007 NLL Entry Draft, which will take place on Saturday, September 1st at the Pepsi Center in Denver Colorado, home of the NLL's Colorado Mammoth.
