Wings All-Star Geoff Snider Suffers Tracheal Fracture

It was announced today that Philadelphia Wings transition star Geoff Snider suffered a tracheal fracture in the team's game on Friday night versus the Edmonton Rush. Snider was struck by an errant stick in the first quarter of Friday's game by a member of the Rush. No surgery is needed, but the Wings All-Star is expected to miss time and will return to Calgary to see local doctors. How long Snider will be out is not definite and a time frame for his return is pending a formal evaluation by the Wings medical staff.

Unaware of the injury, Snider played the remainder of the game versus Edmonton. It was not until the team landed in Portland for its Saturday night game that Snider began to have difficulty breathing and was admitted the intensive care unit (ICU) of a local Portland hospital. He was kept in the hospital's ICU for two nights until the swelling in his throat subsided.

Snider currently leads the National Lacrosse League in faceoff winning percentage (.728) as well as loose balls (153). He also has nine goals and 17 assists in his nine games played in 2009. Snider was selected as the only Wings starter for the 2009 All-Star but will be forced to miss the game due to his injury.
