
Knighthawks Sign Forward Andrew Lazore

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Knighthawks General Manager Regy Thorpe announced today that the team has signed forward Andrew Lazore to a one-year deal. The 27 year old will join the Knighthawks' practice squad.
Lazore is in his fifth season in the National Lacrosse League and started the season with the Buffalo Bandits. In his career, the Akwesasne, Ontario, native has played in eight games and recorded seven goals and six assists. He has played for the Arizona Sting (2006-07), Chicago Shamrox (2008) and 2008 NLL Champion Buffalo Bandits.
In the summer, he plays for St. Regis in the Ontario Lacrosse Association Major Series. In 2008, he completed his third season with the club and was fifth on the team in points with 37 (23+14) in 17 games. In 2006, he was named the winner of the Gene Dopp Memorial Trophy as the league's top rookie. Lazore spent his junior career with Akwesasne (OLA Junior "B"), playing from 2001 to 2005. In his final season, he finished third in Junior "B" with 91 points (39+52).
In addition, Lazore played for the Iroquois Nationals at the 2003 Men's ILF U-19 World Championships. In 2007, he helped the Iroquois capture a silver medal at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships.
The Knighthawks will have the weekend off as the National Lacrosse League enjoys All-Star Weekend in Denver, Colorado. Gary Gait and Shawn Williams will represent the Knighthawks at the two-day event. The Skills Competition is scheduled for Friday, March 6th at 10:00 p.m. EST. The All-Star Game will take place on Saturday, March 7th at 9:00 p.m. EST.
This past weekend, Rochester defeated the Toronto Rock 18-10 Saturday night at The Blue Cross Arena to improve to 3-5. Rochester will host the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, March 14th at 7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM and wysl1040.com. Fans can watch the game live online via the NLL Network at NLL.com and on knighthawks.net.
