Wingnuts to Honor "Hero of the Game" During Each Home Game

WICHITA, KS (May 6, 2014) - The Wichita Wingnuts are pleased to announce that they will be partnering with Corvias Military Living to honor a "Hero of the Game" prior to each Friday home game during the 2014 season.
Fans will have the opportunity to nominate a member of the military that has recently returned from active duty to receive the honor through a link on the Wingnuts' website. Each honoree will be invited onto the field prior to the game to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and have their story shared over the P.A. system. In addition, the selected hero will receive tickets to the game for their immediate family members, a game-worn Wichita Wingnuts American flag jersey, and a baseball autographed by the team.
Corvias Military Living is a privately-owned and fully integrated development, construction, and property management company. Corvias began operations Sept. 1, 2013 to construct, manage, and maintain family housing at McConnell AFB in Wichita. Corvias also manages military housing at Edwards AFB in California, Eielson AFB in Alaska, Hurlburt Field and Eglin AFB in Florida, Seymour Johnson AFB and Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Fort Meade and Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, Fort Polk in Louisiana, Fort Rucker in Alabama, Fort Still in Oklahoma, and Fort Riley in Kansas.
"We are proud to have the opportunity to work with the Wichita Wingnuts in honoring and recognizing local military members for their sacrifices in securing our freedom," said John Pearsall, program manager for Corvias Military Living at McConnell AFB.
The Wingnuts have seven Friday home games slated for 2014. The dates are May 16, May 30, June 20, July 11, July 18, August 15, and August 29.
The seventh season of Wichita Wingnuts baseball begins Thursday, May 15th against the Grand Prairie AirHogs at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
