Laredo, TX - The Laredo Lemurs are excited to announce the signing of right handed pitcher Mike Piazza.ÃÂ ÃÂ
Piazza was most recently with the Arkansas Travelers of the Texas League, where he posted a 6-2 record in 15 starts, with a 3.15 ERA, over 88.2 innings, striking out 87, while walking 37.ÃÂ ÃÂ
Piazza started his professional career with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim back in 2009 with their Rookie ball farm team in Orem, Utah.ÃÂ He spent five years in the Angels organization making it up to their Double-A affiliate in Arkansas.ÃÂ ÃÂ
During Piazza's career he has played in the playoffs four out of five years, winning the Pioneer League Championship in 2012.ÃÂ Piazza has three years of Double-A baseball under his belt and was a Texas League All-Star representing the Arkansas Travelers in 2013.ÃÂ He was named Texas League pitcher of the week July 30, 2012.ÃÂ ÃÂ
The Lemurs pitcher Mike Piazza, is a cousin of former major leaguer Mike Piazza, who played with the Dodgers, Marlins, Mets, Padres, and Athletics.ÃÂ The 12-time All-Star, Piazza is often regarded as one of the best-hitting catchers of all time and holds the record for home runs hit by a catcher, with a career total of 427.
