July 12, 2018 - American Association (AA) - Wichita Wingnuts News Release

WICHITA, Kan. - Casey Harman fired six quality innings and the Wichita Wingnuts got a pair of two-run homers on their way to a series-opening 6-2 win over the Texas AirHogs on Thursday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

The Wingnuts (31-20) struck quickly against Texas starter Sun Jianzeng (0-4), as Tony Thomas smacked his league-leading 14th home run with a man aboard to give Wichita a 2-0 lead in the first. A sacrifice fly from Hunter Clanin in the bottom of the third inning restored the Wingnuts two-run cushion, then Abel Nieves made it 4-1 with a ground ball single that plated Logan Watkins. Clanin provided more breathing room with a two-run home run in the sixth, his second long ball of the season.

The AirHogs trimmed the margin to 6-2 on Stewart Ijames RBI single in the eighth. John Hayes recorded the game's final three outs to secure the victory for Wichita.
