
Wingnuts Fall Short in Grand Prairie

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX- The Wichita Wingnuts (44-22) lost 3-2 to the Grand Prairie AirHogs (35-30) at QuikTrip Park on Friday night.
AirHogs' left fielder Bubba Dotson hit a two-out, two-run home run to right field in the bottom of the sixth inning that gave Grand Prairie a 3-2 lead.
Five AirHogs relievers combined on three shutout innings to close out the win. Patrick Mincey threw a scoreless top of the ninth to earn the save.
Wichita jumped on the board early against AirHogs' starter Josh Strawn. Ryan Khoury led off the game with a ground rule double, took third on an infield single from Jake Kahaulelio, and scored on a John Rodriguez groundball double play to second. After there were two outs and no one on base, C.J. Ziegler, Brent Clevlen, and Abel Nieves hit consecutive singles to make it 2-0.
Wingnuts' starter Anthony Capra pitched four scoreless innings before allowing a two-out, RBI single to Brandon Pinckney in the bottom of the fifth that cut Wichita's lead in half.
Capra took a no-decision, allowing one earned run on three hits over five frames. Capra walked three and struck out seven.
Boomer Potts earned the win in relief for the AirHogs, while Daniel Bennett took the loss for Wichita.
Strawn also took a no-decision, allowing two earned runs on six hits in five innings. Strawn walked three and struck out two.
Wichita left 10 runners on base in the loss. Khoury and Ziegler each had two hits. Nick Walters pitched one and one-third scorless relief innings. Andrew Aizenstadt also had a scoreless inning from the bullpen.
