
Windsor Acquires Rychel from Mississauga

(Windsor) Windsor Spitfires Vice-President and General Manager Warren Rychel today announced that the team has acquired rookie left-winger Kerby Rychel and second round picks (originally from Windsor) in the 2015 and 2016 OHL Priority Selections from the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. Kerby, Warren's son is a 16 year-old native of Tecumseh, ON and is listed at 6'1" and 200 pounds.
In exchange, the Spitfires have sent second round picks (originally from Mississauga) in the 2013, 2015 and 2016 OHL Priority Selections to the Majors.
Rychel was originally the Barrie Colts' first round pick, 21st overall in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection. This season, Rychel has two goals and six assists for eight points with 47 penalty minutes and a +5 plus-minus rating in 30 games with the Majors. Last night, Rychel scored one goal and added two assists while being selected as player of the game in leading Team Ontario to a 5-3 victory over Team USA in the gold medal game of the 2011 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Overall, he scored three goals and four assists for seven points at the tournament.
Rychel will be suiting up for Windsor and will wear #16 in their first game of the New Year this upcoming Thursday at 7:05 pm against the Plymouth Whalers at the WFCU Centre. He is eligible for the NHL Draft in 2013.
