
Wilmington Sharks Announce New General Manager

The Wilmington Sharks announced the hiring of Pat Hutchins as general manager. The Durham, North Carolina native brings enthusiasm and professionalism to his new role.
ÃÂ After leaving Greenville and East Carolina University, Hutchins has called Wilmington home for over 15 years. He has already hit the ground running for his first season in the Coastal Plain League.
"The chance to run an organization that has such a storied history is an incredible opportunity," Hutchins said. "As long as I can remember, being involved in sports on a professional level has always been a dream of mine. My family and I are very excited to be a part of the Sharks' family. The history of the Sharks in unmatched in our city (entering our 17th season) and the Sharks look forward to becoming an even bigger part of the community."
Hutchins will implement the strategic plan for the Sharks focusing on developing and maintaining partner relationships, hiring seasonal interns and summer employees, and making sure the Sharks are "Where Baseball is Fun". He has a proven track record of successful business operation, owning his own company for over 16 years. His involvement in the Wilmington area consists of being the meet and greet dad at his children's school, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and involvement in Winter Park Little League.
Hutchins resides in Wilmington with his wife Kimberly and two children, McCallum (12) Helen Grace (11).
"Pat is a hard worker who loves baseball and knows what it takes to manage a successful organization," said Jeremy Aagard, Operations Manager of the Sharks.ÃÂ "We are excited to see his passion for the game and the city of Wilmington. ÃÂ The Wilmington Sharks are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, entering their 17th season in the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 17th season in 2013, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1,000 alumni drafted and 55 alums - including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander - make their Major League debut thus far.
