Chicago Bandits News Release
ROSEMONT, ILL. - Kristen Butler's four RBI outing helped propel the Bandits past the Akron Racers as they won the series finale 14-2 on Sunday at the Ballpark at Rosemont.
Andi Williamson got the start for the Bandits for the second time this series, facing off against Akron's Rachele Fico.
Akron took an early lead for the second game in a row as Nerissa Myers scored on a pass ball in the top of the first, but the Bandits got tied things up in their half of the inning off an RBI single by Butler to plate Emily Allard.
The Bandits bats came out swinging to start the third and fourth innings as they scored six straight runs to put the game out of reach for the Racers, who fell behind 7-1 following a Kristen Butler home run in the fourth.
The winning run came on a costly error in the third by Akron outfielder, Jennifer Gilbert, which allowed two Bandits' runs to cross the plate to take a 3-1 lead.
Hannah Campbell came in to replace Fico in the fourth but did not fair much better than Fico with six different Bandits players recording RBIs over the two innings.
Akron's only other run of the game came off a Jessica Garcia solo home run in the top of the fifth
The Bandits added seven more runs between the fifth and sixth innings with two of them coming off pinch hitting homer by Jenna Grim.
Williamson shut down the Akron offense, giving up two runs on two hits over her six innings of work to pick up her first win of the 2014 season.
Fico took the loss, giving up seven runs on five hits in her 3.2 innings of work.
The Bandits return to action next Thursday when the Pennsylvania Rebellion make their first and only trip to the Ballpark at Rosemont this season.
