
Williams Scores OT Winner, Lumberjacks Sink Green Bay by a 4-3 Score

MUSKEGON, Mich. - Lumberjacks captain Jack Williams potted the overtime game-winning goal 68 seconds into overtime to lift Muskegon over the Green Bay Gamblers by a final score of 4-to-3 on Saturday, Jan. 15 from Mercy Health Arena in downtown Muskegon. After going down 3-to-0 to the Gamblers, the Lumberjacks score four unanswered goals to win their seventh consecutive game and their ninth home game in a row.
1st Period
The Gamblers were the ones off to a hot start in this game as Ryan Greene opened the scoring at 10:53 of the first period to make it a 1-to-0 lead for Green Bay. Greene's 10th goal of the season was assisted by Jackson Hallum.
About two minutes later, Sawyer Scholl doubled the Gambler lead to 2-to-0 at 12:28 of the period. Scholl's first goal of the season was assisted by John Mittelstadt and Owen Murray.
Through one period of action, Green Bay controlled a 2-to-0 lead over Muskegon.
2nd Period
Just 12 seconds into the middle period, Jackson Hallum added a power play goal for Green Bay to open it up to a 3-to-0 lead for the Gamblers. Jarod Crespo and Ryan Greene picked up assists.
The Lumberjacks would respond just over a minute later courtesy of David Hymovitch to put the Jacks on the board. Hymovitch's fourth goal of the season made it a 3-to-1 game with Gavin McCarthy and Quinn Hutson earning assists at 1:24 of the second period.
At 12:31 of the period, Muskegon's Jake Braccini put the Lumberjacks within a goal with his 15th goal of the season. Owen Mehlenbacher and Noah Ellis scooped up helpers to make it a 3-to-2 score, still in favor of Green Bay.
After two periods of action, the Gamblers stayed in front of Muskegon with a 3-to-2 lead heading into the second intermission.
3rd Period
Down a goal, the Lumberjacks received a crucial marker three minutes into the third with Jack Williams scoring his sixth lamplighter of the season to tie the game 3-to-3. Tyler Dunbar and Jake Richard picked up assists.
With the score tied at 3-to-3, both teams collected one point in the standings and proceeded to sudden death overtime to settle the score.
Overtime
It only took Muskegon 68 seconds into the extra session to send Mercy Health Arena into a feeding frenzy after a power play goal from Jack Williams to win the contest 4-to-3 for the Lumberjacks. Quinn Hutson and Jacob Guevin picked up assists on Williams's game-winning goal in overtime.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks return home to close out their three-game weekend and two-game series against the Green Bay Gamblers on Sunday, Jan. 16. Sunday's matinee will begin at 4:00 pm EST from Mercy Health Arena in downtown Muskegon with the theme being Youth Hockey Day.
