
Williams honored in weekly awards

The National Lacrosse League announced that Shawn Williams of the Rochester Knighthawks captured both the Offensive and Overall Player of the Week Awards for Week #13. Williams led Rochester with five goals and two assists (seven points) and picked up five loose balls in a 13-12 double overtime win over the Buffalo Bandits on March 20th. The victory over Buffalo put the Knighthawks in a position to clinch a playoff berth this weekend if they win at Philadelphia. Williams wins the Offensive Player of the Week Award for the third time this season, while no other player has won the award more than once. The Knighthaws forward wins the Overall Player of the Week Award for the first time this season.
Defenseman Peter Lough of the Arizona Sting was named Defensive Player of the Week as Arizona ended Colorado's six game win streak with a 14-13 victory. Lough won 20 of 29 faceoffs, collected seven loose balls and held Mammoth leading scorer Gavin Prout to one goal while covering him in the Arizona win.
Forward Chris Cercy of the San Jose Stealth was named the Rookie of the Week for his performance in a 15-11 victory over Vancouver. Cercy recorded an assist and won 19 of 29 faceoffs in the San Jose win.

Shawn Williams (Rochester) (5G, 2A, 7pts, 5LB) scored five goals and added two assists for seven points and collected five loose balls in a 13-12 double overtime victory over Buffalo.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Peter Lough (Arizona) (20 of 29 in faceoffs, 7LB) held Gavin Prout to only one goal while covering him, won 20 of 29 faceoffs and collected seven loose balls in 14-13 win over Colorado.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Chris Cercy (San Jose) (1A, 19 of 29 in faceoffs) recorded an assist and won 19 of 29 faceoffs in a 15-11 win over Vancouver.
OVERALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Weekly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers & Head Coaches of the league's ten member clubs.
