Erie, Pa. - Devin Williams made 23 saves to earn his first OHL shutout and lead the Erie Otters to a 1-0 win against the Barrie Colts Friday night.

Connor Brown scored the only goal of the game 3:46 into the third period. The Otters captain fired a shot from the right shot that bounced off the blocker of Mathias Niederberger onto the crease, and Brown tapped in the rebound for his 20th goal of the season.

The Otters prevented the Colts from getting a shot until the 18:39 mark of the third, when Williams started to work his magic to preserve the win. Williams made six saves in the final 1:21 to earn Erie's first shutout since Thanksgiving 2010.

The 1-0 win was the first for Erie since February 15, 2010, which was a shootout victory in Mississauga. The last 1-0 win in regulation came on January 2, 2004 against Oshawa at home. The Otters moved within four points of a playoff spot after Saginaw's loss in London.

Watch two games for the price of one on Saturday when the Third Annual Guns and Hoses Game takes place at 3:00 p.m. before the Otters host the Sarnia Sting at 7:00 p.m. Erie police, fire and EMT workers will duke it out for bragging rights and to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania.
