
Williams Drives in Two in Loss

Luke Williams knocked in a pair of runs and finished 2-for-4, but Clearwater suffered a series loss at Florida after falling 11-3 to the Fire Frogs on Saturday night at Osceola County Stadium.
Threshers starter Ramon Rosso held Florida (12-11) (41-48) scoreless through the front three, before the Fire Frogs leapt ahead with a pair of runs in the fourth inning on a Garrison Schwartz two-run homer.
Florida doubled up the advantage an inning later, connecting for for four-straight one-out hits. Riley Delgado and Brett Cumberland each collected RBI singles, pushing the Florida lead to 4-0.
Clearwater (11-11) (43-47) was held at bay by Florida starter Joey Wentz (3-2), who went 6.2 scoreless innings and permitted five hits and a walk to earn the win. Wentz has not allowed a run since June 13th, a span of 29 consecutive shutout innings.
The Fire Frogs pulled away in the seventh, adding six runs off reliever Will Hibbs, and an unearned run off Addison Russ. Cumberland walked with the bases full, and Jared James smacked a bases-clearing triple in the frame, while a Lucas Herbert RBI double and a two-out error on third baseman Jose Gomez allowed Marcus Mooney to score, opening up an 11-0 Florida lead.
The Threshers broke the shutout in the eighth, facing reliever Brandon White. With two outs, Mickey Moniak doubled to left, and Henri Lartigue and Jose Pujols both walked, loading the bases.
Arquimedes Gamboa followed with another base on balls, pushing home Moniak, and Williams lined a single to center to plate a pair and bring it to 11-3.
Gabriel Lino, who started the game as the designated hitter, pitched a scoreless eighth, allowing a two-out double and a hit batter before getting Schwartz to pop out to end the inning. The mound appearance was the first for Lino in his nine-year career.
The series concludes on Sunday with first pitch at 11 a.m. Ranfi Casimiro has the start against Kyle Muller.
