
Wiles Captures Player Of The Week Award

The National Lacrosse League has announced the Week number 16 awards for the 2007 season. San Jose Stealth forward Luke Wiles was named both the Overall Player of the Week and the Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in a pair of games against the Colorado Mammoth this weekend. Minnesota Swarm goaltender Nick Patterson was named Defensive Player of the Week. New York Titans forward Matt Zash was named Rookie of the Week and Steve Toll of the Rochester Knighthawks earned Transition Player of the Week honors.
San Jose Stealth forward Luke Wiles earned both Overall Player of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week honors. Wiles scored four goals and added six assists for ten points, including one power play goal in a 13-12 road loss to the Colorado Mammoth at Pepsi Center on Thursday night. On Friday night in San Jose, Wiles scored three goals and added four assists for seven points, including one power play goal, in an 11-10 victory over the Mammoth at HP Pavilion. Wiles also collected 12 loose balls over the weekend.
Minnesota Swarm goaltender Nick Patterson was named the Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in an 11-8 victory over the Philadelphia Wings on Friday night. Patterson tallied 47 saves and allowed only eight goals in the victory at Wachovia Center. Patterson did not play in Minnesota's 16-15 victory over Arizona on Saturday.
Steve Toll of the Rochester Knighthawks earned Transition Player of the Week honors. Toll scored one goal and added three assists for four points and collected nine loose balls in a 14-10 road win over the Buffalo Bandits on Friday at HSBC Arena. Toll also tallied an assist and collected ten loose balls in a 14-8 home win over the Bandits at Blue Cross Arena on Saturday.
New York Titans forward Matt Zash was named the Rookie of the Week after leading the Titans to a 12-11 victory over the Toronto Rock at Air Canada Centre on Saturday. Zash scored four goals and two assists for six points, including two power play goals, and collected three loose balls in the victory.
