Luke Wiles Named Offensive And Overall Player Of The Week

(San Jose, CA, April 18, 2007) --- Stealth Forward Luke Wiles has been named Offensive Player of the Week and Overall Player of the Week by the National Lacrosse League for week sixteen.
Wiles scored four goals and added six assists for a franchise record-tying ten points, including one power play goal in a 13-12 road loss to the Colorado Mammoth at Pepsi Center on Thursday night. On Friday night in San Jose, Wiles scored three goals and added four assists for seven points, including one power play goal, in an 11-10 victory over the Mammoth at HP Pavilion. Wiles also collected 12 loose balls over the weekend. In the absence of fellow sophomore sensation, Jeff Zywicki, Wiles' seventeen point performance moved him to the top of the Stealth scoring charts with 82 points.
These are the first Player of the Week Awards for Wiles, who came to the San Jose last year in a trade with the Philadelphia Wings. Wiles split the 2006 season between Philadelphia and San Jose, appearing in 17 games and registering 49 points (23-26=49) while collecting 68 loose balls. Wiles was named to the 2006 NLL All-Rookie Team and called a "Sophomore Sensation" by Inside Lacrosse Magazine alongside Stealth team mate Jeff Zywicki.
Wiles and the Stealth (9-7) will travel to Colorado to face the defending NLL Champion Mammoth (12-4) in the Western Conference Semifinals of the Champions Cup Playoffs on Saturday, April 21 at 6:00 p.m. PST.
